I need to insure my motor boat, can you help me?

Of course we can! If your vessel is under 10.5 meters in length and/or slower than 110kph we can include it in our Priceless or Envoy product. If it is larger or faster than that we can arrange a separate policy for you.
 

I have legal defence costs insured. Can I use this to sue my ex-employer for wrongful dismissal?

You may use this policy section for this action. We recommend that you discuss this with your consultant before proceeding.
 

My son has a learner’s licence – is he covered while driving my car?

Yes he is as long as he is complying with the required laws governing this i.e. The learner’s licence is current and that a fully licensed driver is with him in the vehicle at all times while he is driving.
 

Do I need to specify my cell phone?

Yes and make sure that the value that you provide is at replacement.
 

I have been asked to supply proof of value and ownership of my jewellery. How do I do this?

You can:
a) Provide a valuation certificate for the pieces concerned.
b) Provide proof of purchase of the items i.e. bank or credit card records, Jewellers receipt etc.
 

How do I insure jewellery?

Valuable jewellery that is worn regularly should be specified. Other items can be covered under a blanket all risks cover. Discuss this with your consultant.
 

Is it possible to pay the full premium annually?

Yes, this presents no problem and will result in a saving of premium.
 

My Home Owners insurance is placed with my bondholder. Can I insure this with you?

Most definitely! We will usually be able to do this for you with a generous cost saving and increased benefit.
 

Is Motor and Home insurance really necessary?

It most certainly is! A loss of an asset or a liability claim can be devastating but by the same token buying insurance that you don’t need is a waste of money.
 

Can I pay monthly?

Yes you may by completing a debit order authority.
 

Can my motor policy be free of excess?

Yes – if you are over 55 and have our policy it already is! If you are younger that 55 an excess waiver can be included for a reasonable monthly charge.
 

How do I insure my domestic worker’s personal property?

Not necessary, your domestic workers assets are included in your policy subject to the terms and limitations of our policy offering of course. We will be happy to discuss this with you.

Can I increase my Personal Liability Limit?

Certainly! We can do this for you up to R 20,000,000 at the press of a button. More will take a little longer!
 

Is all the information required on the proposal form really necessary?

Yes this is most important – the more information that an underwriter has of your insurance requirements allows them to assess your risk correctly and apply the most competitive rate possible.
 

Is it cheaper to buy a combined Motor and Home Policy than a separate policy for each?

Generally yes – this can be as much as 30% cheaper
 

What to do and what not to do in the event of an accident

  • obtain the name, address, telephone number, ID number, vehicle details (registration, make and model) of any other parties involved in the collision.
  • ascertain if the third party is the owner of the vehicle and if not, record the owner’s details.
  • record the name of the third parties, their insurance broker or insurance company and policy number.
  • obtain the names, addresses and telephone numbers of any independent witnesses.
  • make a sketch of the scene of the accident if possible, including landmarks, street names, road signs and markings.
  • on request, give your name and address, the name of your insurance company and our address, and your vehicle registration number.
  • report the accident to the nearest police station within 24 hrs and if there is a third party involved, obtain a copy of the police report for recovery purposes.
  • advise your local AFI office.

  • not admit fault or liability to anybody either verbally or in writing, even though you may have caused the accident
  • not discuss the accident with anyone except a traffic or police Officer.
  • not consume (or allow anyone in your vehicle to consume) alcohol or drugs.
  • not drive your vehicle unless you are completely sure that it is safe to do so.
  • not move your vehicle if a person has been injured or killed - unless instructed to do so by a traffic or police officer.  If the accident vehicles obstruct the road or traffic flow, and no injuries or fatalities have been sustained, the vehicles must be moved to safety after clearly marking their position on the road.

 

What is Comprehensive Cover on a motor policy?
